Seoul Starbucks Bukhansan – Korea’s Starbucks in the mountains

Starbucks The Bukhansan is easily Seoul’s most beautiful Starbucks, with an huge outdoor terrace and indoor area overlooking Bukhansan National Park.

Best combined with nearby Eunpyeong Hanok Village (which is one of our favourite day-trips from Seoul), getting to Starbucks The Bukhansan 스타벅스 더북한산  is easier than you might think.

You can even take a direct (but slow) bus from Myeongdong – and the rooftop views and experience to Bukhansan National Park are so worth it.

With exclusive merchandise, blends and desserts available only in this mountainside Starbucks, this is a fun trip for Korea Starbucks fans or just those who like brews with views.

How to get Starbucks The Bukhansan from Seoul / Myeongdong

Starbucks The Bukhansan 스타벅스 더북한산  is located about 12km north of downtown Seoul and is about one hour away by public transport.

Bukhansan National Park is surprisingly easy to get to from downtown Seoul and this mountainside Korean Starbucks is just a small part of this.

Seoul Starbucks Bukhansan - Korea’s Starbucks in the mountains

There are lots of hikes and treks in Bukhansan and many of the best trails start and finish a stone’s throw from Starbucks The Bukhansan – so why not treat yourself after your walk or stock up here before you go?

To get to Starbucks The Bukhansan from Myeongdong, I took the direct 704 bus from outside Lotte Young Plaza in Myeongdong. The journey takes just over just one hour but it doesn’t require any changes. The journey takes 34 stops and you alight at the Bukhansan Fortress Entrance bus stop.

Alternatively, you can take the GTX-A train from Seoul Station one stop to Yeonsinnae Station then take a bus (704 or 37) for 13 stops to Bukhansan Fortress Entrance bus stop.

From the Bukhansan Fortress bus stop, it is a short 5 minute walk to Starbucks The Bukhansan.

Remember to use a T-Money card on the Seoul Metro and buses  – you can buy one in advance from Klook >

Starbucks The Bukhansan – what to expect

Seriously, we think this is one of the best located Starbucks in Korea – purpose built with panoramic views, this is the perfect place to start your Bukhansan National Park trip.

Starbucks The Bukhansan has two floors and a roof-top terrace:

  • The downstairs floor is the serving and seating area (which is also where you will find all the Korean Starbucks mugs and merchandise).
  • Middle floor (indoors) – this is the most popular spot with huge bay windows looking out over the mountains and Bukhansan National Park. The free toilets are located on this floor.

I visited Starbucks The Bukhansan one weekday lunch-time and given its remote location, I thought it would not be too busy – how wrong can you be?!

It was absolutely packed – you have to be quick to get a table. This is possibly because lots of workers from nearby areas come here for a nice lunch with views – it seemed to be much quieter after 2pm.

But the star of the Starbucks show for me had to be the roof-top terrace and garden….

Panoramic Roof Terrace Starbucks The Bukhansan

From the crowded middle floor, walk up the steps to the most amazing Starbucks terrace in Korea – and given the midday heat, this was actually the quietest part.

As you can see from the photos, Starbucks The Bukhansan roof terrace is split into two decks.

A smaller back deck with more shade and several tables plus a larger terrace and garden with around eight tables and several sun loungers. The latter were empty when I visited in May 2025 as the temperature was around 29c with very little cloud in the sky.

There is also a small rooftop garden area looking out over the mountains (with a Starbucks logo) which proved a very popular photo spot.

Food and drink / prices

As you’d expect, there are lots of good food and drink choices here (some exclusive to this branch), albeit it is quite expensive compared to some other coffee shops. But you are kind of paying for the experience and Starbucks has never been the cheapest coffee shop in Korea.

I ordered a grande Caffe Latte (5,800 KRW) and a Mortadella sandwich (7,900 KRW). As the cafe is so busy, waiting times for food can sometimes be up to 10 to 20 minutes and a buzzer is given to you to collect your order when it is ready.

If there is more than one of you, I highly recommend one of your group gets a table whilst the other is ordering (if visiting during peak periods).

Starbucks The Bukhansan has exclusive food and beverages including Bukhansan Lemon Earl Grey Blended tea. I also spotted a triangular shaped ‘Chocolate Mountain Baumkuchen’ cake in the dessert cabinet (7,900 KRW).

Things to do near Starbucks The Bukhansan 스타벅스 더북한산

Eunpyeong Hanok Village

One of Seoul’s most sublime suburbs, Eunpyeong Hanok Village feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city – and yet it is only a short bus ride away from Starbucks The Bukhansan.

Whilst most tourists visit Ikseon-dong hanok village or Bukchon Hanok Village, Eunpyeong Hanok Village is a much quieter but equally epic Seoul neighborhood that has cute cafes, museums plus beautiful views of Bukhansan Mountain.

A relatively new hanok village established in 2014 to help promote Korean culture, several K-dramas have been filmed at Eunpyeong Hanok Village including ‘Somebody’ (Netflix), ‘The Third Marriage’ and ‘Moving’.

For the best aerial views of Eunpyeong Hanok Village and the surrounding mountains, head to 1in1jan cafe. This six storey restaurant and cafe offers incredible panoramic vistas of Namsan mountain and the houses below.
