Yeongdo-gu 11 Things To Do – Busan’s Blissful Island

One of Busan’s best neighborhoods, Yeongdo is a cool coastal escape chock full of waterside cafes, cultural centers and the National Maritime Museum.

With the start of it just a stone’s throw from the bustling Nampo / BIFF Square district and Jagalchi Market, you can escape the city hustle and bustle quite easily here.

Featuring stunning landscapes like Taejongdae geopark, cute stops like the Miffy Cafe and Danubi Train or the little peace of heaven that is Huinnyeoul Culture Village, here is our guide to the best things to do in Yeongdo-gu Busan.

Things to do in Yeongdo

1. Huinnyeoul Culture Village / Huinnyeoul Munhwa Maul

Not to be confused with the much larger (and busier) Gamcheon Cultural Village, Huinnyeoul Culture Village 흰여울문화마을 is a coastal walkway and cute shopping area and easily one of our top things to do in Busan.

Reminiscent of Greeks islands like Santorini, Huinnyeoul Munhwa Maul is white-washed residential village that is a treasure trove of shops and trinket stalls, plus cute coffee shops that offer panoramic views of the Busan sea. After the war, Huinneyeoul Culture Village was formerly an area where refugees gathered and settled.

It is one of the most famous places in Busan to see Busan Port and South Port and has featured in several K-dramas and programmes, most notably the films ‘The Attorney’ and ‘War Against Crime’.

A beautiful hillside village, Huinnyeoul Huinnyeoul Munhwa Maul is very much worth your time and peaceful way to spend some time – a prime spot to enjoy a coffee or afternoon tea on a terrace enjoying the sea-breeze and ocean vistas.

2. National Maritime Museum of Korea

We’ve been to Yeongdo several times before but it wasn’t until our latest Spring 2026 visit that we finally made to it one of Busan’s best known attractions located on the island – National Maritime Museum of Korea.

You know you’ve made it to the right place when you see all the old submarines and sailing ships parked up outside the domed museum exterior – we visited on week-day so it was busy with school groups and nursery visits.

Inside, there are permanent galleries dedicated to Korea’s maritime history and temporary exhibitions, plus there is a small aquarium section – better yet, admission to the National Maritime Museum of Korea is free (although there is a charge for the 3D cinema).

After you’ve visited all the exhibits, check out the views from the rooftop observation deck looking out towards the Jodo Island (Achi Island) and nearby cruise terminal – or grab a coffee looking out to the ocean in The Liter coffee shop on the fourth floor.

3. The Miffy Cafe

Busan’s best bunny cafe? On our latest 2026 trip, we checked out The Miffy Café high in the hills which has incredible views of the city and Busan’s port.

Fun for families (and big kids like us), the cafe is housed in a huge bright orange shipping container building with views of the ocean and Busanhangdaegyo Bridge.

We enjoyed a couple of Miffy themed drinks on the rooftop (they looked better than they tasted though), and browsed the gift store afterwards (which has Busan-exclusive merchandise). Go for the theming and view, and not so much the food and drink!

The cafe is located on top of a hill so you can take a bus to get there, or go by taxi like we did!

4. Namhang Market

The best Busan traditional market in Yeongdo-gu! We discovered Namhang Market quite by chance, whilst on our way to Huinnyeoul Culture Village / Huinnyeoul Munhwa Maul – very much a local market, we were the only tourists there when we visited.

Whilst not a Busan market on the scale of say Jagalchi Fish Market or Seomyeon Market, Namhang Market is close to the port and famed for its seafood. Its prices are often cheaper so many people visit due to the inexpensive seafood restaurants here.

And it isn’t just seafood at Namhang Market – here you’ll find fruit and veg stalls, sock shops and homemade kimchi stalls plus several wallet friendly restaurants.

We found a knife-cut noodle soup restaurant where a huge bowl of noodle soup or bibimbap was served with a whole host of sides for just 5,000 Won.

5. ARTE MUSEUM Busan

An immersive museum with incredible floor shows and light installations, you can visit Yeongdu’s ARTE MUSEUM as part of the Visit Busan Pass – which is a great saving as admission in 2026 is currently between 22,000 and 25,000 Won per person depending on when you visit.

Located near to P.ARK, ARTE MUSEUM Busan is a newly established mixed media arts space in Busan that is well known for its immersive exhibitions.

We’ve been to a few ‘immersive spaces’ in our time (many of which are not so good) but Museum Arte is an epic exhibition hall with wall-to-wall LED screens, mirrors and lights that creates incredible sight and soundscapes.

A combination of permanent artworks and pop-up exhibits, Museum One is an epic experience and popular with younger groups in Busan – plus they often have pop-ups and temporary exhibitions like the BTS one in summer 2026.

6. Cafe 385 / 카페385

Yeongdo has so many Instagrammable cafes and this is up there with the best. In fact, Cafe 385 won the 2025 Busan Coffee Award Cafe – cool beans eh!

Located on a hilltop looking out over the ocean and harbor, 카페385 is a huge coffee shop with several stories plus two outdoor decks looking out to the ocean.

As you walk in, the smell of freshly baked bread and decadent desserts hits you – from Googley eyed croissants to honey bread, there is much to eat and enjoy here!

I opted for a chestnut mont blanc dessert with an Americano and then headed up to the top floor to enjoy my brew with a view.

Popular with local groups (especially big groups of Ajummas) and students, this is a nice thing to do in Yeongdo come rain or shine – Cafe 385 / 카페385 is open daily from 10am to 10pm.

7. Taejongdae and the Danubi Train

Taejongdae is one of the best known seaside parks in Busan, located at the south-end of Yeongdo Island. As you’d expect, Taejongdae offers incredible panoramic views of the ocean – on a clear day, you can see as far as Tsushima Island.

Taejongdae has a plethora of paths along the coast to explore plus the famed Taejongdae Observation Deck.

Other highlights include the “Light Beyond Limitation” statue by Ji Sul Won Kyung Lee – you may well have seen this on social media before visiting Busan (a giant red and blue ring sculpture against an ocean backdrop) and the Yeongdo Lighthouse.

If you don’t fancy the walk, let the Danubi Train take the strain, a cute toy train type set-up that drops you off at several places in Taejongdae park, the first being Taejongdae Observation Deck.

8. P.ARK Cafe 피아크

Located in a huge cultural complex overlooking the ocean, P.ARK Cafe 피아크 is quiet the epicurean experience – from a colossal cafe counter to a big bakery section as you enter, this is a great example of how cool Busan’s coffee culture really is.

We visited P.ARK Cafe one cloudy weekday afternoon and it was bustling with workers having coffee and eating lunch – with several seating areas plus a massive terrace outside, you could easily spend all afternoon here.

Kudos to the bakery section here – you could see the pastry chefs and patisserie pros at work and some of the desserts they were creating were incredible, including cubed loaves shaped and coloured like the exterior of the building.

9. Yeongdo-gu Pojangmacha eating area

In addition to Namhang Market, the other best place to eat seafood in a superb harbour setting is the Yeongdo-gu Pojangmacha Street along Bongnaenaru-ro (close to Hotel Lavalse).

Essentially, this is a L-shaped area of alfresco seafood stalls  in the summer months and in tents during colder months, that look out over the water and the fishing trawlers.

Drink soju, beer and makgeolli until the wee small hours as the kindly Korean ladies (‘Ajummas) create incredible stews and fish dishes. From the menus we saw, every food item costs 20,000 Won and the drinks flow all night.

The fish and street food stalls at Busan Yeongdo-gu Pojangmacha are generally open from around 5 pm until late.

10. Yeongdo Sky Observatory

Busan is never short on sky observatories and we feature several in our ‘Best of Busan’ article – Yeongdo Sky Observatory is located on the southern part of the island and can be visited day or night.

If you are scared of heights, this might not be for you as the platform largely comprises a glass floor so you can see the ocean and waves below – binoculars also look out to sea.

It connects to various Yeongdu coastal trails and is open 24 hours a day – to get here, take the Busan City Tour Bus (Green Line) and alight at the Yeongdo Haneul Park bus stop or use local buses city bus 82 or 85 and pay using your T-Money card.

11. Space ONEZ

The Yeongdo craft beer bar that got away – sadly, we tried to visit Space ONEZ in Yeongdo one Sunday evening but they were closed for a private function and hadn’t mentioned it on their social channels.

So we can’t tell you first-hand whether it is good or bad, but we did get a glimpse of the interiors which looked nice.

It is renowned for its food and live music nights plus incredibly strong belgian beers like Delirium Tremens and Boone Brewery Gueuze – so we may well check it out on our next visit to Busan!
