K-Drama Set Suncheon Open Film Set 2025 admission cost and opening hours
We visited Suncheon in May 2025 and admission to the K-drama filming set was listed as 3,000 Won for adults, 2,000 Won for students and free for the elderly and Suncheon residents.
However, for whatever reason, we were only charged 2,500 Won each – so maybe they have reduced the price in the low season.
The Suncheon K-Drama film set is open from 9am to 6pm (last entry at 5pm).

Korea’s only K-Drama set you can visit
As soon as you arrive at the set and walk through the main entrance gate, you are transported back in time as you walk along an 80s street film set, complete with old cars and a vintage movie theater.

As you arrive, you can stock up on snacks at a convenience store and gift shop on the left side of the entrance gate (or wait for the cafe).

Suncheon is on the main South Korea tourist trail so when we visited the Suncheon Open Film Set one weekday afternoon, it wasn’t that busy.
We saw a few local families, an elderly walking group (it is free to local residents) and just one other western couple – however, it may get busier during weekends and special festivals.

K Drama film sets – 60s to 80s filming lots
Let’s take a look at the main K-drama films and TV sets you can visit…
The filming set was originally built for the 2006 K-Drama “Love and Ambition” and extended greatly over time.
Outskirts of Seoul in the 1980s
This is likely the first K-Drama set you encounter as you enter Suncheon Open Film Set. The theming here is excellent with some 80s cars including two taxis plus a movie theater (Sunyang Theater) you can go into and watch excerpts from K-Dramas that were filmed here.

We also visited the vintage cafe here which seems to be sponsored by Korean electronics firm Goldstar – there are retro electrical goods and old TVs inside – we sat down for an ice latte and wobbly castella cake.

The cafe exterior is also one of the best photo spots as there is a classic green taxi outside – which the resident cat seemed to enjoy sleeping under.

We also liked the dance-hall where you could listen to 80s music and dance along if you so wish – some of the tunes were awesome like Cyndi Lauper and Rick Astley!

In the 80’s street, there are also several stores you can go into like a classic gaming arcade and an old toy store.

School uniform costume rental
We saw a handful of young Korean couples doing selfies and photos wearing traditional school uniforms from the 1970s and 80s. There is a school uniform rental site near to the movie theater located on the main street.

School uniform rental starts from 5,000 Won per person – we think we spotted some other outfits / uniforms you can hire too and explore the K-drama movie sets in.

1960s Suncheon Downtown Set
Running parallel to the river set that was used in the Apple TV ‘Pachinko’ series, the 1960’s K-Drama set is fun to visit and there are several rooms and shops you can go inside including an old billiard hall (you can play for free) and an old police station set – here you can pretend you’ve been locked in jail.

There is also a small museum in the 1960s set where you can look at stills and movie posters of all the dramas filmed here. Even if you don’t know your K-dramas that well, this ‘Time Travel into the Movies’ building is well worth a visit.

Karaoke Lounge
Before heading up the hill to the 1970’s shanty town, do pop into the karaoke room set in an old vintage bar.

This was one of the most popular movie set rooms to visit as it has a huge karaoke machine and TV screen inside with hundreds of songs that you can sing – amazingly, it is free of charge and as well as Korean songs, there are other languages available.
We had the K-Drama karaoke room to ourselves and belted out a few classics including Abba’s Dancing Queen and Phil Collins Easy Lover – yes, we are that classy!

1970s shanty town
Possibly the best known K-Drama set at the whole Suncheon studios, this is a highly detailed recreation of what life used to be like in low rent, high concentration slum / shanty town.

It consists of around 50 hillside houses which offer nice views of Sucheon itself from the top – you can’t actually go into any of the dwellings and some of the steps / paths are a little rickety so you might want to watch your step

Also here is an old church set plus two smaller chapels (“The Houses of Promise & Hope”) which visitors like to pose in front of and inside (the interiors have fairy lights and cute features).

Summary / Review Suncheon Open Film Set (순천 드라마촬영장)
Even though we aren’t knowledgeable K-Drama fans, we really enjoyed our trip to this filming set and it is such a unique Korean attraction.
The fact you are free to wander around relatively unrestricted and explore at your leisure, wandering in and out of vintage shops and old theaters is amazing – plus the free karaoke is a bonus and so much fun!
Given admission is around 2,500 KRW (just over £1 or around $2 USD), this is such good value and allow yourself at least a couple of hours to properly explore it.
