What is Lotte Mart Zettaplex Seoul Station and why is it so popular?
Lotte Mart is one of Korea’s biggest supermarket chains, with much more stock and souvenirs than Korean convenience stores like 7-Eleven and CU.
There are several types of Lotte supermarkets across Korea like Lotte Fresh (smaller supermarket), Lotte Department stores and Lotte Mart BUT the best of the bunch are Lotte Zettaplex, their flagship stores that combine fresh goods, electronics, homeware and heaps more – they are a souvenir hunters dream.

Reopened in 2023 after several months of renovations, Seoul Station Zettaplex is merchandised with foreign travellers in mind. Recent reports suggest that over 50% of all sales made at Seoul station shops are made by foreign visitors so it is a prime location for gift shopping.
The store has a special section for iconic Korean products like Korean snacks (Hello HBAF!), Korean instant noodles, K-Beauty plus dozens of decadent foods and finds.

Recently, they’ve also run lots of big promotions that have become popular on social media like 5,000 KRW Korean fried chicken buckets – it sells out daily!
As well as the supermarket area, there are several floors of other shops like Toys R Us (where you can buy Hechi merchandise – the Seoul tourism mascot) and Daiso, plus Lotte brands like Bottle Bunker, where beer, soju, makgeolli and more are available.
And Lotte Mart Zettaplex also accepts international credit cards and offers an instant tax refund on certain purchases – so make sure to take your passport!

From trinkets to toys, soju to Squid Game merchandise, Lotte Zettaplex has got you covered – plus it is usually cheaper than say the Myeongdong souvenir shops or 7-Eleven.
South Korea Hallyu tip – this article will focus on the more famous Lotte Mart Zettaplex Seoul Station but if you want a less busy experience, the other flagship Lotte Mart Zettaplex store is located in Jamsil neighborhood (map), right next to Seoul’s Lotte World theme park.

What to buy at Lotte Mart Zettaplex Seoul Station
We spent an awesome afternoon at Lotte Mart Zettaplex Seoul Station browsing and buying – seriously, make sure you have suitcase space and come prepared with a shopping list.
Instant Noodles / Ramyun Noodles
OK, so this is one of the most common Korean foods you can probably buy back at home but you will find some more unusual flavors and lesser known brands if you shop at Lotte Mart Zettaplex Seoul Station – and it is much cheaper if you buy the bulk boxes.

We even saw instant noodle tasting stalls here on our visit so try before you buy!
Ramen noodles have several dedicated aisles in Lotte Zettaplex – you can usually find a dedicated aisle chock full of choice ramen flavours like sriracha, curry, seafood and fried chicken.
They also have a massive stock of the viral Korean cheese ramen noodles – Nongshim Shin Ramyun Toomba.

Korean Soju
Korea’s most popular alcoholic drink, soju 소주 is widely available in every bar, convenience store and supermarket. And soju is surprisingly cheap making it one of the least expensive drinks and best value souvenirs in Korea (often cheaper than mineral water and soft drinks).

This can be bought in the Bottle Bunker section of Lotte Zettaplex.
Please remember to carry soju back home in your checked luggage and that the legal drinking age in Korea to purchase alcohol is 19 years old and above.

HBAF Flavoured Almonds
Very popular with tourists and families, HBAF are flavoured snacks (usually almonds or nuts) that have cute cartoon characters on their packaging and in their HBAF stores.

HBAF is a food / snacking company that sells all manner of nuts, snacks and coated goodies like honey butter almonds, wasabi almonds, mini caramel salted pretzels.
Zettaplex Seoul Station has a dedicated HBAF area which also sells multipacks of different flavours in case you can’t decide which to buy!

K Beauty – toiletries, face creams and sheet face masks
K-Beauty is big business and now one of Korea’s biggest exports, up there with K-Pop, K-Drama and amazing Korean food!
Latest reports indicate that for the first time, exports of Korean beauty products were in excess of $10 Billion USD last year – so no small wonder there is a colossal K-Beauty section at Lotte Zettaplex. Maybe they should rename it Zetta-complexion!?

The most popular K-beauty souvenir to bring home is face-masks, available for as low as 950 Won (in-store) and from 1,000 Won at the Daiso store next door.
We spotted K-beauty and international brands like Toriden, Ryo, Perfect Whip, VT Cosmetics and Neutrogena.
Premium Korean face-masks are way cheaper than Western equivalents and are light and easy to transport (unless you buy dozens like us) and are cheap and cool gifts for friends back at home.

Korean snacks and confectionery
There are lots of iconic Korean snacks to take back home from here like the classic Lotte Choco Pie to Pepero chocolate sticks (a bit like Pocky) available in dozens of flavors.

For something a little different, take home Lotte Green Candy Grapes or stock up on Crunky, one of our favourite Korean chocolate bars available in so many shapes and sizes (Neil likes cookies and cream flavour).
Keep an eye out for the famous Korean Crown Butter Waffle biscuits too!

Suitcases
One of the most common questions in our South Korea Travel Tips and Planning Facebook group is where to buy luggage in Seoul.
Lotte Zettaplex Seoul Station has ‘bags’ of choice (sorry not sorry) and you could even stock up a new suitcase you’ve just bought before departing on the AREX to the airport – so smash and grab at Seoul Station!

Banana Milk (Binggrae)
Bangin’ banana milk (binggrae) is super popular in South Korea, particularly with the young. Popular with all ages and available in every Korean convenience store, banana milk has been enjoyed for decades since its introduction in the early 1970s.

Zettaplex has one of the biggest Korean banana milk displays we’ve ever seen in Seoul plus other flavours to try.
And before you say ‘this isn’t a souvenir as it is chilled’, there are also carton versions available which are kept on shelves in shops and can be taken back home.

Not only is it a popular drink, but there are also loads of Korean banana milk souvenirs from embroidery patches to keyrings.
From prices to other similar milk flavours by Binggrae, here is our ultimate guide to Korean banana milk >
Korean instant coffee / Korea tea
Get your caffeine fix to go with several aisles dedicated to instant Korean coffee from Lotte’s own brand beans to coffee shop sachets like Ediya coffee and Maxim.

If you are more of a tea-person, there are tons of tea to choose from like Korean One Red Ginseng Tea.

Bento boxes are known as dosirak in South Korea. These huge boxes come in a variety of flavours with a huge assortment of sides like pickles, soft boiled eggs, fishcakes and kimchi plus loads of rice to accompany your main dish. They are so much cheaper at Zettaplex than say GS25 or Emart24.
From chicken cutlets to spicy pork, hot bento boxes are have a huge fixture in Zettaplex along with chilled boxes like sushi and onigiri.

Fried chicken
Get your fried chicken fix (chikin 치킨) at Lotte Mart Zettaplex Seoul Station – they recently ran a promotion where the price dropped from 12,000 Won to 5,000 Won and it ‘flew’ off the shelves (which is unusual for a dead chicken).

Rice cakes (tteokbokki)
A South Korean foodie institution and a nice rice cake to boot, tteok-bokki is incredibly popular either as a main dish or a side dish (and often served with eomuk – like a thin starchy fishcake).
You can buy sealed packets of the ‘Bibigo’ brand of tteokbokki in various flavours here like hot and spicy, sweet and spicy and cheese.

Other Korean foods and souvenirs we spotted
- Korean mushroom instant rice
- Korean melons and other fruits like Kiwis
- Calbee potato chips and snack products
