South Korea public holidays in April 2026
There are no public holidays in April in South Korea.
However, 5 April in South Korea is Singmogil 식목일 which used to be a public holiday but now longer is – Korea’s Arbor day, Singmogil 식목일 is when some families plant trees to encourage green spaces.
Seoul Spring festival 2026 (formerly Seoul FESTA)
10 April to 5 May 2026 throughout the Hangang Parks
One of Seoul’s biggest free outdoor festivals in April, Seoul Spring Festival returns for just under a month from early April at Seoul Square, Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul World Cup Stadium and various locations across Seoul.
Celebrating the very best of Korean culture from K-Beauty to K-Pop, a wide variety of concerts, pop-ups and activities take place across the city.
Some of the Seoul Spring Festival 2026 highlights include Seoul drone shows featuring thousands of drones on 10 April (Yeouido), 25 April (2026) Ttukseom and on 5 May 2026 near Jamsil.
Their ‘Signature Show’ takes place nightly on the Han River featuring a merry go round carousel with lights and lasers plus on 3 May, there is a headline ‘Wonder Show’. On Children’s Day (5 May, not April), there is a “Pokémon Run” too!
Please note this festival used to be called Seoul Festa.

Seoul Outdoor Library
From April 2026 onwards – several locations
The annual Seoul Outdoor Library is definitely something you’ll want to ‘bookmark’ for your next South Korea trip and it returns in spring 2026!

From 23 April to June, and September to October, the Seoul Outdoor Library pops up in several picturesque locations across the city.
Each of the three Seoul Outdoor Libraries provides chairs, books and entertainment including an alfresco library which opens along the city’s Cheonggyecheon stream near Dongdaemun – sometimes there is music and performers too.

All three Seoul Outdoor Libraries are within walking distance of each other so you could combine all three for an epic reading session.
The 2026 Seoul Outdoor Library opening times are still TBC but in 2025, the Seoul Outdoor Library confirmed times are 11am to 6pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the summer months there may be occasional later openings

Unless you’ve been living under a shell, you will likely have heard that BTS are making a triumphant return to Seoul and other cities around the world with their new Arirang Tour, which arrives in Seoul on 9, 11 and 12 April 2026 (3 nights).
Tickets are long sold out but to mention Seoul will be very busy with BTS activations and the Purple Army during these dates so hopefully you booked your Seoul accommodation well in advance – plus there is a live screening in selected cinemas on 11 April.
2026 South Korea / Seoul Baseball season starts
Across April until September 2026
South Korea’s most popular sport is baseball so after a day of exploring why not catch a game of baseball such as at the Seoul Jamsil baseball ground.

This year’s 2026 KBO baseball season is hotly anticipated and there are KBO baseball games in April 2026 EVERY day of the week except Monday. Each team will play 144 games over the season with a short break in July 2026.
The baseball season in South Korea runs from late March until September every year, and Seoul is fortunate enough to have two home baseball teams – the Doosan Bears and the LG Twins (last year’s KBO championship winners)

There will often be several baseball games a week played at Jamsil stadium (it is a huge stadium, holding 25,000 spectators). Foreigners can buy Seoul baseball tickets at Jamsil stadium for as little as 13,000 Won (around £8 / $10 USD).
We’ve been to Jamsil Stadium baseball a couple of times and had an amazing time watching baseball (and eating, singing, dancing…).

K-League Soccer (FC Seoul)
11, 18 and 21 April 2026 at Seoul World Cup stadium
The perfect way to ‘kick-off’ your trip to South Korea, K League football (or soccer) is a popular sport, up there with baseball.
So if you are visiting Seoul in April, consider a FC Seoul K League Game at the Seoul World Cup stadium. Home FC Seoul games in April 2026 take place on 11, 18 and 21 April (2026).

South Korea K League game tickets are easy to purchase (and very cheap) plus the World Cup Stadium in Seoul has good transport links with its very own subway station.
From purchasing KL League tickets for FC Seoul through to what types of food, drink and entertainment you can expect at the stadium, here is our guide to all things K League South Korea and the Seoul World Cup Stadium >

Seoul Cherry Blossom
Early April 2026
Most cherry blossom spots in Seoul and South Korea usually bloom in late March 2026 into early April – but this can change every year based on weather patterns so do keep checking our South Korea Travel Tips and Planning Facebook group for updates.
At the time of writing (early March), the Korea Tourism Organization has just released the latest South Korea 2026 cherry blossom forecast and everything will be in full bloom between 2 to 7 days earlier than planned.

Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival (호수벚꽃축제)
Early April 2026 (exact dates weather dependent)
Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival is perhaps the most famous area to see Seoul cherry blossoms near the city, held annually at Seokchon Lake (and also very close to Seoul Lotte Adventure World).
The floral festival usually takes place between late March to mid-April, when South Korean cherry blossoms adorn the trees around the lake (and make for some beautiful reflections).
At the 2026 Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival 호수벚꽃축제, expect to see lakeside performances, pop-ups and flowery activities – the festival is free to attend.
South Korea Hallyu tip – for the best views of the Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival from up high, head to the top of Seoul Sky / Lotte World Tower.

Yeouido Spring Flower Festival 2026 (여의도 봄꽃축제)
8 to 12 April 2026
The other famous Seoul cherry blossom festival is the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival.
Yeouido is a cherry blossom island in western Seoul next to the Han River and which is home to many beautiful flowers and nature all year round (but especially so in early April).
With lots of amazing photo opportunities including riverside blossoms and floral tunnels, expect Yeouido Spring Flower Festival to be one of the busiest places to visit in Seoul this spring.

Regular events in Seoul (all year round)
NANTA Theatre Cooking Show
There are many theatre shows to see in Seoul on rainy days but perhaps the most famous (and long-running) is the NANTA theatre show.
This world renowned comedy cooking show has been packing in audiences worldwide since 1997. Possibly the best known Korean theatre show, NANTA Theatre has been performed over 50,000 times in over 60 countries and is a fun mix of slapstick and physical comedy.

There are very few spoken words used throughout so not understanding Korean (or English) won’t be an issue.
Myeongdong NANTA Theatre has at least two NANTA performances every day, with evening shows held at 5pm and 8pm Monday to Saturday (on Sundays, it is 2pm and 5pm).

The Painters show
‘The Painters’ in Seoul is the world’s first live painting show combined with music – a few people have asked recently about an alternative to the ‘Nanta Cooking / Comedy Show’ and we’d recommend ‘The Painters’. It is on 7 nights a week in Seoul at 8pm (and 2pm and 5pm).

To be honest, we thought it was going to be naff (terrible) but it was surprisingly good and the theatrics and artistry were amazing. Even if you don’t like K-Pop style shows, the way they create incredible paintings from nothing is spellbinding.
Korean ‘idols’ recreate famous paintings such as Michelangelo’s ‘Creation of Heaven’ and Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Self-Portrait’ with splendid choreography and live drawings. It sounds like it will be kitsch AF but we both loved it. There is also a photo opp with the boys at the end.
For more info and tickets, check out ‘The Painters’ on Klook >

For something a little more ‘adult’ and for women over 19 years of age, check out the “WILD WILD: After Party” in Euljiro, Seoul or the ‘Touch Five’ show musical – remember to pick a ‘touch’ or ‘no touch’ sticker!
Other South Korea April 2026 festivals and events
Busan Gwangalli Drone Show (free) – every Saturday night at 8pm and 10pm
Busan’s Gwangalli Beach is the place to be every Saturday night with the weekly Gwangalli M Drone display over the night sky.

Seriously for us, this had to be one of the top 5 things to do in Busan, not just Gwangalli. It is also a great thing to enjoy in Busan with kids.
Every Saturday night at 8pm and 10pm in April, over 300 aerial drones take to the skies of Gwangalli Beach and create an incredible skyborne spectacle, with various scenes and characters created.
Each week, the official Gwangalli drone show website lists what the theme will be that Saturday.
